Winter Hiking In Taos NM
A new trailhead has opened in the Taos Valley Overlook area. In addition to solitude, stillness, and fabulous snowy mountain views, this new trailhead offers winter hiking at it's best. You can reach the new trail by going south from downtown Taos on State Road 68 (Paseo del Pueblo Sur) and then turn right onto onto County Road 110, which also leads to the UNM-Taos Klauer Campus and the Taos Golf Course and ends at the rim of the Rio Pueblo Gorge.
Sitting on 78 acres, this land was acquired by the Bureau of Land Management in March 2013, just one day after the presidential proclamation that created the Rio Grande del Norte Monument. However, it is not yet included in the monument area.
